Car insurance problem
Always ask WHO for advice.

My car was stolen two weeks ago, turns out Admiral Insurance cancelled my policy 3 days before.

I had 3 points which I genuinely forgot to disclose.

They had asked for a code to view my licence, which I responded to the email, but it was a no reply email address. 😳

Any ideas?

They're not going to pay out.

That's the long and short of it.

Re: Car insurance problem
You have no chance I’m afraid.
The duty to remember your points lies with you and not them. Failure to disclose renders the policy invalid.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Re: Car insurance problem
I understand about points on your licence.

But I did respond; albeit to a no reply email address.

I was driving for 4 days not knowing that I wasn’t insured.

Has your motor been found, FH son?

These cunts don't want to pay out as the best of times, so you might have to suck this one unfortunately.

No

Worst thing was; my golf clubs were in boot as well.

And a few other things.

Just called financial ombudsman; I’m not expecting anything.

Afraid to say you should have told you Ins co the day you got the points.

The good news is, about twenty years ago I was a fleet manager and accidents and undeclared points were an everyday occurrence.

The ins co would backdate the premium to what it should have been if it was declared, pay that up, pay the XS and was good to go.

If you are not insured then you should get your premium refunded.

Re: Car insurance problem
You might still get something back. My sister had a similar scenario and had her car stolen off her drive and hadn't disclosed 3 points. She went to the ombudsman if I remember correctly.
The insurance company basically said that had she disclosed her points it would have increased her premium by 30% so they basically reduced her payout by that amount and she got back 70% of the car's value.

Google Insurance ombudsman.

Then contact them and ask them if there is anything they can do to help.

If car insurance is required by law you’ll be amazed at the type of protections you have.

It’s worth at least a phone call.

Re: Car insurance problem
Sorry to hear of your misfortune mate, to have it cancelled 4 days before it was nicked is mindbendingly unlucky. Makes me glad I drive a relatively shit car that no one would nick

Re: Car insurance problem
Do you have separate golf club insurance, either as a separate policy (e.g. Golfcare) or via your house contents insurance?

Although the pay out may be limited depending on how long the clubs had been in the car.

Good call Westside, and oh the clubs were only just put in there along other valuable items 🙄

Golf clubs insurance? Blimey, do people really do this in the real world of being ultra sensible?

Re: Car insurance problem
Your case is literally a grain of dust in the sand for them.

Insurance companies do always try to 'not' pay out where they can and if they feel they have a case. And over a year they hope that all of their refusals to pay out adds up to a whopping surplus.

But keep on at them. Have you got a copy of your e-mail you sent declaring them? Did they tell you that they had cancelled the policy before your car was stolen?

I manage fleet as part of my job and I find if you keep on long enough they do relent.

Re: Car insurance problem
As Jim said what they'll likely do is re-calculate the premium, pay you out and take their little chunk.
